Lydney

The Lydney course is a fairly compact one that offeres good opportunities for a clean sweep of all the checkpoints, provided you can take on the hills that surround the town. Once all the vast expanse of new building on the higher side of tow is largely complete we will probably be adding a second Lydney course which sets a bigger, and different, challenge!

Note that the Lydney course was one of earliest courses, and has a different scoring system from most. Checkpoints are numbered from 10 to 39, numbers 10-19 are worth 10 points, 20-29 are worth 20 points, and 30-39 are worth 30 points. The catch is that penalties for late completion are 30 points per minute or part minute!

Parking is on the large paved area beyond the bus station and the B&M Bargains shop. From the main road through the town, turn towards the bus station opposite The Original Factory Shop. Immediately after the bus station, turn right and then bear left. If running in the evening note that the gates into the B&M car park are closed shortly after the shop closes, so don't park in there if late in the evening.

The start and finish are are on the footbridge across the stream towards the main pitch area and skate park. Make sure you run through this point to start your route, and again back through it to stop the clock on your run, but don't run through there after starting but before you are ready to finish, or the clock will stop anyway.
