Piccadilly Pits MicrO Courses

Following on from our courses at Nottingham Knolls, we have another set of MicrO courses at Piccadilly Pits, just south of the Cleeve Hill masts. It's an intricate quarry area featuring a small-scale 1:2000 map (based on LiDAR), with 2 metre contours.

  • There are 3 linear courses to choose from, each about 1.3km in length
  • Note that NO paths are shown in the detailed quarry area, so a good chance to practice contour interpretation!
  • Note that the quarry is occasionally used by motor cycle trail bikes: you shouldn't run the courses if these are around.

The courses can be downloaded from the UK/Gloucestershire/Training folder.

Getting there: Take the road towards the aerials on Cleeve Common and there's parking for 2-3 cars at the bottom of the dip, on the left by the Public Footpath sign. This is at the end of the lane leading to the start. There's also some additional space in the nearby lay-by.

The Start/Finish is by the telegraph pole on the lane leading from the road.
