Maprun Christmas Challenge

Published by Pat Macleod on

Our MapRun Christmas Challenge returns this year! Like last year, we’re trying to get as many people running our MapRun courses as possible over the Christmas period, by providing a sweet incentive. Last year 28 people took part, with seven earning chocolate.

How does it work?

  • The aim: Run at least 8 of our MapRun courses over the Christmas period from Sat 19 Dec to Mon 4 Jan,
  • The prize: Chocolate – you can pick it up at one of our MapRun events in the new year. Bigger chocolate prizes will be available for those who run the most courses!

Everyone’s eligible, whether you’re a seasoned MapRunner or new to the game.

Courses

We have Courses around Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, with some just across the border into Worcestershire and Wales. (NB: check COVID rules before you travel).

Most of our courses have a standard format: you have one hour to collect as many points as possible by visiting up to 30 checkpoints.

We have other variants too: from MapRides designed for bikes, to super-short Micro-Orienteering courses (as these are so short, they’re worth half a credit each!)

All courses, regular or variant, towards your total – basically anything within the Gloucestershire and Worcestershire folders. We also have an event on New Year’s Day at Rodborough Common, which counts as well. Do sign up for that and come along.

We’ll keep an eye on progress, and if you have any problems, drop us a line at maprun@ngoc.org.uk
