Great turnout at Monmouth yesterday for a most enjoyable run. Many thanks to Gerry and Sue for planning it. To those whom I told our next event would be Thornbury, I was wrong! Before then we have a race on WEDNESDAY 2 APRIL at Prestbury, on the NE outskirts of Cheltenham. Then on THURSDAY 24 APRIL we are in Thornbury. Fabian will be loaded up soon, and details will apear on the website before long as well. In the meantime, lots of new names to add to the league table after last night's run. Once the clocks have gone forward we tend to mix pure suburban races with semi-urban, semi-rural ones, so if anyone has any ideas for new places to go over the summer months, respond here or email pat 'at' patsmail.uk. ... Just a quick but rather belated note re tonight's run in Coleford. Parking is free from 6, but the first hour of parking before that is free, so you can turn up any time after 5, get a free ticket from the machine, and you safe until 6! That's if you want to come a little earlier than the advertised start time. I aim to have a short run around a few controls before the rush, and should be back by about 17:45...I need to do something about my current score of -1880 points, incurred during a walkabout to check wheelchair access around the town (which is rubbish!) ... Only a couple of days left to enter the first MapRun of 2025, nicely central in Quedgeley, so checkout the details at www.ngoc.org.uk/event/quedgeley-2025/, and then head on over to Fabian4.co.uk and sign up. It promises to be a nice dry evening, so what better way to spend it than pounding the streets of this lovely bit of Gloucester suburbia. ... See MoreSee Less

Our first race of the 2025 League should be in Quedgeley on Thursday 23 January, so keep the date in mind. I need to check a few things tomorrow before finalising the course, and Fabian will be open for entry business hopefully quite soon - when Adrian at Fabian extricates himself from ultra snowy Lakeland.Sadly we have had to increase the entry fee by £1 for unaffiliated (to British Orienteering) runners to cover recently increased insurance levies for such runners. Still good value for money though - what better way to spend a dark, cold and maybe wet evening pounding the local streets looking for virtual checkpoints while working out just how far you can run in 60 minutes, and whether you can get back in time to avoid losing your hard earned points????😀 ...
